During your initial consultation, we will help evaluate your oral health and discuss the best route to take for your dentures. Then, we will take an impression of your teeth and gums to inform your custom fitting.

Not Your Grandfather’s Dentures
Would it surprise you that nearly 20% of people wear dentures? That’s because people of all ages wear them for a multitude of reasons.
Dentures or partial dentures replace teeth in one or both dental arches—upper and lower—when people lose them to things like decay, gum disease, and trauma. Many favor dentures over surgical treatments like dental implants because dentures are less expensive and grant you the freedom to remove them as needed.

Before Receiving Dentures
- Prepare meals ahead of time that will not irritate your sore gums to expedite healing.
- Speak with friends and family members who also wear dentures to discuss your expectations.
- Expect excellent results! Millions of people wear dentures, many of whom have worn them for decades or longer.
After Receiving Dentures
- Remember to clean your dentures every day to eliminate food particles, plaque, and bacteria.
- To clean dentures thoroughly, we recommend using a soft-bristled brush, mild denture cleaner or soap, and water.
- Take your dentures out at night to give your gums a break.

While it may take a few days to adjust to the feeling of dentures, they should eventually feel comfortable and secure. It is normal to experience some initial discomfort or soreness, particularly as your mouth adjusts to the new appliance, but remember that we can make adjustments as needed. Getting dentures requires collaboration, including initial consultations, mouth impressions, bite measurements, and try-on appointments to ensure a proper fit and aesthetic.
While there may be an adjustment period, especially during the first few days of wearing them, you can regain normal speech and eating abilities with some practice and patience.
With proper care and maintenance, dentures can last for several years. However, over time, we may recommend scheduling an appointment to realign, adjust, or replace them as your mouth’s structure changes with natural wear.
Absolutely! We can always repair your dentures in the event of a break. Our doctor or her dental technician can typically perform minor repairs, such as fixing a cracked or chipped denture, in the office. If your dentures become ill-fitting or worn out over time, we may suggest replacing them instead. Regular dental check-ups can help identify any issues early on to prevent further complications.
