Before applying your sealants, we will thoroughly clean the target teeth to prevent any bacteria or debris from being trapped under the sealant.

Protect Your Teeth With Dental Sealants
Your teeth have a fine layer of enamel designed to stop bacteria, but sometimes this enamel needs a little help.
With dental sealants, you can shore up your teeth’s defenses with an additional layer of protection. The talented providers at Ocean Aesthetics and Dental will apply dental sealants in Hilton Head to any healthy teeth that may be at risk for decay.
What To Expect
Sealants at Ocean Aesthetics and Dental
Your provider will gently dry your teeth and then apply a solution to your teeth that will increase adhesion with the sealant. Then they will paint on the actual sealing solution.
We will shine a curing light onto the sealant so it bonds to your teeth and hardens to its final texture.

Dental sealants are an excellent preventative method to keep your teeth safe from decay and damage. Anyone with healthy teeth that they want to safeguard can be a good candidate for sealants. If your teeth are already experiencing decay or cavities, the time for sealants has passed and you may need restorative work instead.
Many prime candidates for dental sealants in Hilton Head are older children and teenagers who have permanent teeth. Adolescence is a prime time for cavities and decay to strike, but by sealing your teeth, we can protect your teeth and prevent decay and bacteria exposure.
Please note, sealants cannot be used for teeth with signs of decay or teeth that have had previous fillings, crowns, or other restorative work.
Dental sealants, on average, last about 5 years. Over time, it will begin to chip off and eventually disappear from your teeth. This process is sped up if you frequently eat very hard or chewy foods or do not follow healthy oral hygiene habits.
Make sure to visit us for your regular check-up exams and we can monitor the status of your sealant. When the time comes, we will re-apply it if needed so you can renew your teeth’s protection.
We use a tooth-colored composite resin for our sealants that is subtle and discreet. Most sealants are applied to the back teeth anyway, so there is very little visibility for the average patient.
